Progressive Grocer Independent Honors IGA Technology Innovation Award Winners

 February 04, 2013

Last week I shared with you that a number of IGA retailers are being honored by Progressive Grocer Independent—the go-to resource for learning about the independent sector—in its annual Outstanding Independents edition. Well, today we have even more good news: That same February issue will also feature an IGA retailer and two wholesalers being honored for technological advances!

The awards recognize outstanding technology implementations that overcame challenges, were innovative, produced verifiable results and achieved specified business goals during 2012.

"'Easy,' seemed to be the theme that spanned the innovations of this year's awards," said Joe Tarnowski, senior editor of Progressive GrocerTech, the quarterly technology supplement within the pages of Progressive Grocer. "The technology and solutions implemented by this year's winners made specific tasks easier for either the retailer, the shopper, or in some cases, both."

Member of the IGA family being recognized include:

Geissler's IGA Supermarkets, East Windsor, Conn.
Vendor: Bozzuto's Retail Technology Solutions, Cheshire, Conn

Geissler's developed a centralized online platform and an integrated network of interactive devices that delivered valued content across multiple shopper touchpoints. The technology includes an interactive meal planning and marketing platform, as well as an integrated suite of solutions that delivers coupons, recipe ideas, and weekly ad circular content over any interactive device, in-store interactive displays, or online via the web, mobile, email, and social media.

Laurel Grocery Company, London, Ky.

Laurel installed a security appliance that was effective against a broad spectrum of common security threats and required minimal modification to Laurel's existing network infrastructure and perimeter defense.

Congratulations to our technology winners! We look forward to reading more about these progressive IGA family members when the magazine is released next week.

Thanks,
