How cool would it be if an IGA member's supermarket chef won the 2014 FMI Supermarket Chef Showdown?

Part recipe contest, part culinary competition, the FMI Supermarket Chef Showdown is an opportunity to have your IGA supermarket chef pit their culinary know-how and skills against other retail chefs in the industry and take part in media coverage that will set the stage for your IGA to shine. Take a look at last year's grand prize winner, Keoni Chang, corporate chef and director of Prepared Foods at Foodland Supermarkets in Hawaii, and how they used his win to showcase their store in the media and in-store.

The event takes place live in front of celebrity judges in a special kitchen stadium created in the center of the convention floor at FMI Connect on June 11, 2014 at McCormick Place in Chicago, and I am honored to emcee the Showdown.

The deadline for entries is soon—November 15—and with more categories this year, there is more opportunity to win. Supermarket chefs can enter their recipes online at www.SupermarketChefShowdown.com in up to five categories including: Healthy Meals, Family Meals, Ethnic Meals, Dessert and Side-Dishes/Mini Meals/Snacks. All recipes must use at least three eligible ingredients and take 20 minutes or less to prepare (not including baking or cooling time).

There's no cost to enter and the top-25 finalists will compete live with all travel and meal expenses provided. Prizes this year include an all-expense-paid trip for two to Mardi Gras 2015, an all-expense-paid trip to California to participate in the olive harvest, cash, food-centric awards, and more. Learn more about the competition and submit recipes at the Supermarket Chef Showdown website.

America's shoppers want the best and tastiest prepared foods and recipes to make at home; this is our opportunity to showcase IGA and show how America's Hometown Proud store does it best! Enter today!
