A message to the Alliance from...
Ricky St. John
IGA Area Director
IGA retailers are known throughout the industry for their outstanding achievements in retailing. Today IGA Area Director Ricky St. John congratulates IGA retailers Gary and Terrie Baker on their recent industry recognition.
At the awards ceremony held last week in West Lafayette, Ohio, Gary and Terrie Baker of Baker's IGA were inducted into the Ohio Grocers Hall of Fame—the highest honor of Ohio's food industry.
As Nate Filler, President/CEO of the Ohio Grocers Association (OGA) said, "Gary and Terrie's steadfast commitment to quality, customer service and their community make them an outstanding choice for this special recognition."
Of course, it's no surprise to us that these longtime IGA members were singled out. They have been excelling together in the grocery industry for nearly 40 years.
Gary opened his first Baker's IGA in Newcomerstown in 1974, and when he married Terrie in 1978, she began learning the business from the ground up. Today, Gary and Terrie work side by side, he as President and she as Vice President and CEO. Together they have grown their operation to include four IGA stores in Newcomerstown, Scio, Coshocton and Sugarcreek.
In true IGA Hometown Proud fashion, they are active members in their church and community, and also leaders within the industry. Gary serves on the executive committee of OGA's board and on the IGA National Retail Advisory Board, and Terrie serves on the National Grocers Association board. As a testament to their exceptional service, they have both received numerous recognitions of their achievements in the industry over years.
So today the IGA family congratulates Gary and Terrie Baker, and wish them many more years working together to raise the bar in independent grocery retailing.
