Author: IGA News

(CHICAGO, IL) – IGA today announced that Joe Caputo and Sons Fruit Market has become a member of IGA, adopting the IGA Brand at all three of its northwest Chicago suburb locations. Joe Caputo and Sons Fruit Market IGA will host a grand reopening at its Palatine location in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago to celebrate the store’s recent remodel and Joe Caputo and Sons’ membership in the IGA family.

Joe Caputo and Sons Fruit Market has been a staple in the Northwest suburbs of Chicago for more than 20 years. The three family-owned and operated stores (located in Palatine, Des Plaines and Algonquin) are known for offering shoppers hand-picked fresh fruits and vegetables and the finest quality imported Italian specialties. Owners Nat and Vito Caputo say they are pleased to have the opportunity to join their established Joe Caputo and Sons brand with IGA.

“No matter where you go in the world, people recognize the IGA logo and equate it with hometown community pride. That’s what Joe Caputo and Sons Fruit Market has always been about so it was a natural fit to join our family-owned and operated brand with IGA’s. We look forward to introducing Palatine, Des Plaines and Algonquin to all the benefits that come along with joining IGA, including IGA’s high-quality private label line of products,” Nat Caputo said.

“IGA is extremely pleased that the Joe Caputo and Sons team has chosen to add IGA to their own trusted brand,” IGA Senior Vice President of Retail and Business Development Doug Fritsch said. “Partnering with Joe Caputo and Sons’ family-owned stores is the perfect opportunity for us to bring the IGA brand back to Chicago.”

The Caputo’s team is also excited to celebrate the recent remodel of the Palatine location. The remodel has resulted in the addition of 10,000-square-feet of space on the supermarket floor, with improvements and expanded offerings in the deli, bakery, freezer and beer and wine departments. The store now also has a new sit-down café that features wood-burning oven pizza, gelato and espresso coffee. Improvements were also made in the checkout area to speed up customers’ checkout process and facilitate better customer service. The store is also now stocking nearly 400 IGA brand private label products.
