Team JDRF IGA: Teaming up for a Great Cause

Author: IGA News

(CHICAGO, IL) – As you well know, IGA and its retailers have long been proud supporters of good causes both on a national and community level. This summer, we’re seeing this cause commitment play out in the best way possible: Support generated by IGA Retailers has expanded across our Alliance!

Our own IGA retailers, Susanville IGA’s Rick and Anna Stewart, started the process by registering to participate this June in  the world’s toughest bicycle race—the Race Across America (RAAM)—to raise money and awareness for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Together with 14 other team members, they will ride 3,005 miles from Oceanside, Ca. to Annapolis, Md. to help in fight against type 1 diabetes, which affects more than 3 million people in America alone.

IGA—recognizing an opportunity to link our brand with a great cause—has also joined in as a title sponsor of the JDRF IGA Team , with support also coming from some of IGA’s Red Oval  partners and  IGA Licensed Distribution Centers. Now all that’s left is to rally the rest of the Alliance behind this great cause.  The race begins this Saturday, June 18, and along the roughly six-day trip across America, Team JDRF IGA will be traveling through a number of IGA towns. Many IGA retailers are getting involved on a local level through JDRF fundraising efforts, and by directing their shoppers to follow the race on the Team JDRF IGA Facebook page.

If you’re actively engaged in social media, we’re reaching out to you today to ask that you help us connect our Alliance in our first digital social media experiment to raise awareness for a cause that matters: Show your support by “liking” Team JDRF IGA on Facebook . There will be plenty of action on the Facebook page to keep everyone interested, including trivia, Q&A’s with the racers, and a daily video podcast that documents the race from start to finish.

If you’d like to show your support financially, visit the Team JDRF IGA website, where you can make a contribution to help support race expenses and also donate directly to JDRF.

Let’s show America that the IGA Family is the best in the business at connecting for a cause!
