IGA ELECTS NEW BOARD MEMBERS
CHICAGO, IL – IGA
today announced the election of two Fleming Companies, Inc. executives
to IGA Boards. Both assumed
their directorships upon their election at the IGA, INC. Board meeting
held on March 9, 2003
, at IGA's Global Summit in
Palm
Springs ,
Calif. Fleming, a multi-tiered supplier
for consumer package goods, is the largest licensed distributor to
IGA stores in the U.S.
Archie
Dykes, Fleming's non-executive chairman joins the board of IGA, INC.,
which is the holding company of IGA International and IGA
USA
.
Dykes has
served on Fleming's Board since 1981, and was recently elected non-executive
chairman. He is also the
chairman and CEO of Capital City Holdings, headquartered in
Nashville
, TN. Previously, he served as
chancellor at Kansas
University
and the
University
of
Tennessee
.
"Dr.
Dykes has the distinction of being one of the most reputable educators
and financiers in the country, and has long been admired for his visionary
thinking," said Thomas Haggai, chairman and CEO of IGA.

are certain his experience will assist in our continued global growth."
Jim Thatcher,
president Fleming IGA, was appointed to the IGA USA Board that governs
the operations within the
United States
.
Thatcher
assumed the position of president of Fleming IGA in 2002.
Since joining Fleming five years ago, he held the position
of retail president of southern operations and group vice president
of sales and marketing. Prior
to joining Fleming, Thatcher served as vice president of operations
for Kash-N-Karry, a subsidiary of Food Lion based out of
Florida . His grocery industry career
began with Albertsons, where he spent 21 years working in various
management positions up to and including director of retail operations
for the Florida
division.

pleased to have a person of Jim Thatcher's stature on the IGA USA

"His participation on the Board allows him to serve as a direct
link between IGA and the retailers Fleming supplies."
