IGA 2003 AWARD WINNERS CELEBRATE IN NEW YORK


CHICAGO, IL - Three of IGA’s 2003 award winners attended a three-day, two-night trip to New York City to celebrate their honors. The trip, which was sponsored by IGA, INC. and five distinguished IGA Red Oval Family partners, including, Anheuser-Busch, Inc., Coca-Cola, Kraft Foods, Nestlé USA, INC., and Unilever Home & Personal Care—North America, was held October 24-26. Representatives from IGA, INC. and each of the sponsoring Red Oval Family partner companies were also in attendance.

Award winners in attendance included*:

2003 IGA International Retailer of the Year award winner Trevor Borowiak and his wife, Jackie, of Borowiak’s IGA in Albion, Ill.

2003 IGA International Retailer of the Year Pat Raybould and his fiancé, Janet Chung, of Russ’s Market IGA in Lincoln, Neb.

2003 Supermarket Manager of the Year Rick Long of Village Market IGA in Harrogate, Tenn.

* Award winners not listed were unable attend the trip due to schedule conflicts. The 2003 IGA International Retailers of the Year from South Africa and Australia were awarded overseas trips.

Richard & Martha Lukemam of Copiague IGA in Copiague, New York were also in attendance.

While in New York, the attendees stayed at the Marriott Marquis in Times Square, saw a Broadway play and dinned in two of the city’s more popular restaurants.

“Our 2003 award winners represent the future of IGA and deserve all the accolades we can give them,” said Vice President of Administration, Events and Communications Barbara Wiest, who traveled with the group. “We are extremely grateful to the Red Oval Family partners who made this wonderful trip possible.”
