IGA APPOINTS EXPERIENCED MANAGEMENT CONSULTANT TO KEY EXECUTIVE POSITION

Thomas A. Zatina Retained As Vice President of Red Oval Family Relations

CHICAGO, IL - IGA today announced that it has retained top-level senior management consultant Thomas Zatina for the position of vice president of Red Oval Family relations, effective immediately.

The Red Oval Family is a coalition of national and international manufacturers, suppliers and service providers dedicated to partnering with IGA’s authorized distribution companies and licensed retailers in strategic planning, category growth, event planning and best practices. As vice president of Red Oval Family relations, Zatina will be responsible for facilitating successful and productive relationships with existing Red Oval Family members, as well as recruitment of new members.

Thomas Zatina is president of Zatina & Associates, a consulting group providing advisory services to senior management across channels and industries, with a focus on improving understanding, execution and results.

“We are incredibly pleased that with the many functions of Tom’s company, he has made the decision to devote a major portion of his time to IGA,” Dr. Thomas S. Haggai, chairman and CEO of IGA said. “In his many different positions over the years he has constantly contributed to the success of IGA. There could be no better match. We look forward to seeing him fostering even more positive relationships with our valuable Red Oval partners.”

“I am excited and honored to represent IGA and contribute towards bringing enhanced value to its Red Oval Partners Program,” Zatina said.

Prior to forming his own company, Zatina had a 30-year career in the grocery distribution industry. During that time, he worked closely with IGA in a number of different capacities. Most recently Zatina served as senior vice president operations of Fleming Companies, Inc., formerly IGA’s largest U.S. distribution company. Before joining Fleming, Zatina served as executive vice president and chief operating officer for Bozzuto's, Inc., a wholesale distributor and retailer serving over 125 IGA stores in New England, New York and New Jersey.

Before joining Bozzuto's, Tom spent 13 years with Chatham Supermarkets, a 60-store retail chain in Michigan where he served in a number of store operations and corporate management positions, eventually becoming vice president of human resources and labor relations. Food marketing has been the story of Zatina’s life, having been raised in the family grocery business.

Zatina has served on several board committees of the Connecticut Food Association and as Vice Chair of the Board of the Food Industry Alliance of New York State. He is also the past chairman of the Government Relations Committee of Food Distributors International.

A native of Detroit, Mich., Tom completed his undergraduate studies at Wayne State University and received a Masters Degree from Central Michigan University.
