IGA 2004 WORLD ANNIVERSARY SALECHICAGO, IL - IGA today announced IGA’s Global Supermarket Network is joining forces with world-class Global Manufacturer Partners to present its third annual international marketing event, the IGA 2004 World Anniversary Sale. The event, designed to celebrate IGA’s ongoing consumer commitment to providing quality products and world-class value in Hometown Proud Supermarkets around the globe, will run September 19 - October 16, 2004. IGA customers will enjoy ongoing savings on an entire family of foods, personal care and household items from world-class companies including The Coca-Cola Company, Colgate-Palmolive Company, The Gillette Company, Kraft Foods, Nestlé USA and Nestlé Purina PetCare Company, and Procter & Gamble Co., in addition to select IGA Private Label items. Each country works with the individual manufacturers to develop the right items for their time and place. Within the United States, individual distribution licensed centers will coordinate directly with the manufacturers to select products that fit the particular region and store customer base. The 2004 World Anniversary promotion theme—A World Of Goodness Always Within Reach—embraces the diversity of the varying people, customs and cultures comprising the vast IGA global supermarket network. “The theme of family celebrates what is most common, basic and intrinsically important to us all,” IGA International Coordinator Jerry Pinney said. “Regardless of country or culture, the IGA global family’s commitment to providing shoppers with the highest value and quality products, combined with every consumer’s dedication to the health, nutrition and well being of their own family, is a common bond that connects us all. Independently, the quality family of products selection from each manufacturer has high consumer appeal, yet when promoted in conjunction with multiple manufacturers for a limited time and exclusively at IGA, we can find just how powerful a promotion can be.” How it works: An in-store sweepstakes will give consumers in many stores the opportunity to enter to win prizes with every store visit throughout the entire World Anniversary promotion period. Consumers enter to win a Shopping Spree for free groceries at their local IGA store. The value of the shopping spree and the number of winners are determined by each participating store and can be awarded in the form of a store gift certificate, credit or coupon voucher at each store’s discretion. All retailers who participate in the World Anniversary program, and achieve specified sales and merchandising performance targets on participating World Anniversary manufacturers’ products, will be eligible to receive IGA awards of recognition and valuable prizes. A commemorative plaque and an all-expenses paid trip for two to the 2005 IGA Summit for a formal awards presentation will be awarded to one “International Best” Display and one “International Best” Sales contest winner.
