IGA Hometown Healthy Challenge Prize Winner - Valerie Timmons
Valerie Timmons, a Marion,
S.C. resident and Parmars IGA shopper,
designated the Marion County Medical
Center’s Wellness Center
to receive the $5,000 donation on behalf of Parmars IGA. Marion
County Medical
Center’s Wellness
Center, a division of Marion Regional
Healthcare System, is the only fitness-oriented wellness center catering to Marion community. The
Center uses exercise equipment and instructors to provide personalized fitness
plans for members of any age group or fitness level, including special needs
members who are handicapped or disabled. Reduced-rate memberships are available
for families, groups, and senior citizens.
“This donation came at a great time for us,” Harry
Martin, physical therapist and rehab manager for the Wellness Center, said. “We’ve been making do with
what we have for quite a while now. Now we’re looking to replace some of our
older equipment and create additional group programs for our members. We’re
very thankful to Ms. Timmons and to IGA for giving us the resources we need to
help our community members stay active, and fulfill our mission ‘to improve the
health status and quality of life of the diverse populations we serve.’”
