National Pet Month is right around the corner and that means so is our third annual IGA-Purina Picture PAWfect ComPETition! Offering up six grand prizes of Purina pet food for a year, your 2014 Purina pet photo contest is already tailored-made for feel-good engagement from IGA shoppers, but this year we're going to take it a step further by giving you resources to help you reach out to your IGA shoppers on Facebook and Twitter.

When you consider that Facebook refers more than one-fifth (21.3%) of all traffic to the average website, it seems like a no-brainer to advertise your brand on the social networking site (source: Shareaholic). But figuring out the right message isn't always easy. That's why for this IGA pet photo contest, we've prepared ready-to-post Facebook and/or Twitter copy available on the IGA Alliance site.

Additionally, we've built in ways for your shoppers to help spread the word on Facebook. For example, when a shopper visits the pet photo contest microsite, they'll see a Facebook feed on the side panel. There they can see which of their friends have liked the page, and easily "share" the page with the click of a button. Retailers, that goes for you too! Be sure to share the event page with your friends and followers!
