Glade Aerosol Converts To New Larger Can, New Price Point

Aerosol fragrances have come a long way. Thanks to innovations in aerosol-based products like compressed gas replacing hydrocarbons and the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) adding them to universal waste regulations to boost recycling, aerosols remain an attractive segment in the air care category.

In fact, Red Oval partner SC Johnson reports that aerosols are the No. 1 segment for new category buyers and in repeat category buyers. But with current consumer pain points, including a desire for fragrance to last longer, SC Johnson and Glade have decided to convert the old aerosol can into a new and improved product while also driving improved merchandising through case count reduction. The old aerosol cans have a last shipment date of December 2022, with the new aerosols beginning shipment at the same time.

The New Formula & New Size: 8.3 Oz Aerosols

In time for spring cleaning (and even winter cleaning), Glade has rolled out a new formula in its new larger 8.3 oz aerosol that addresses those current consumer and retailer pain points:

• 2x more fragrance
• Improved cap and updated graphics
• 100% natural propellant
• 12 ct cases transitioned to 6 ct cases for improved merchandising

What It Means For Retailers

As mentioned above, the last shipment of the old product, 8 oz Glade aerosols, went out in December 2022, so those UPCs are now discontinued.

Retailers must tag in the new 8.3 oz Glade aerosols to avoid holes on the shelf for this volume-driving item.
