In their weekly COVID-19 shopping insights, Nielsen reports that pantry-loading slowed down last week in brick & mortar and online. The drop was consistent across all major food and beverage departments except for bakery, which saw accelerated growth in brick & mortar. Alcohol and baby growth improved online. During COVID, dollar growth has been primarily driven by unit increases contrary to historic trends.

Online trips rebounded, but for the first time since COVID started, increases in buyers slowed down to single-digit growth rates. Brick & mortar basket values declined yet again.
