Total Store Growth Holds Steady, Alcohol Out of Top 5
Total store growth held steady at 11.9 percent last week, according to Nielsen's weekly COVID-19 shopping insights, driven by food staples. Frozen, meat, and produce were the top three growth departments.
With an increase in out-of-home occasions, alcohol dropped from the top five departments in brick and mortar. General merchandise was down for the second week in a row, and the week’s drug channel penetration dropped to its lowest level this year.
