Tell us about your company. How did it get its start?

The Tony Chachere (sa-shur-ee) brand was born in 1972 when our founder and namesake began manufacturing his now famous Creole Seasoning Blend. Today, the Tony Chachere family of products has exploded to include almost everything Creole: marinades, dinner mixes, sandwich sauces, roux and gravy mixes, and more.

What do you bring to the table for IGA members? 

Incremental sales & profits! Tony Chachere manufactures the #1 all-purpose seasoning in the spice category, the #1 injectable marinade, and eight varieties of southern-style rice dinners, ranked #2 nationally. With record sales in 2018, we are poised for tremendous growth in 2019 with the introduction of new and innovative spice blends and rice dinners that will generate even more incremental category sales.

How is your company focusing on product innovations? 

Tony Chachere offers a wide array of products within several categories. Our injectable marinades, for example, are unique in that every bottle comes with an injector syringe that allows the consumer to inject the marinade into the meat rather than just coat the surface. Our butter marinade was the #1 selling marinade nationally in the entire condiment category in the fourth quarter of 2018.

Why is the independent sector important for your business? 

Tony Chachere products have a large consumer base and are available in all major grocery chains throughout the U.S. We believe we can grow the independent retailer’s business as well as ours by making these products available to the large sector of independent shoppers. And as a family-owned business ourselves, we understand the importance of helping independent grocers thrive.

How do you plan to help IGA retailers increase their sales? 

Through aggressive marketing and promotional programs, like IGA’s new National Digital Ad, that allow the independent retailer to promote Tony Chachere products at a very competitive price point.
