For 100 years, independent grocers have shown up for their communities — for the everyday grocery runs and the special occasions that turn into memories. Starting July 15, we're saying thank you the best way we know how: with prizes, a road trip, and a few good stories.
Enter to Win
Here's what's up for grabs when you shop at your local IGA store:
No purchase necessary. Entering takes about 30 seconds, and the sweepstakes runs through September 8 — so there's plenty of time to enter, and enter again.
None of this would be possible without some generous help. This sweepstakes is proudly made possible by Coca-Cola, Gold Peak, vitaminwater, Powerade, and smartwater keeping things refreshing; the Pork Board, Aussie Beef, Kingsford, and Hidden Valley Ranch bringing the flavor to your next cookout; and Kleenex, Huggies, Ziploc, Glade, and Off! taking care of the rest of home life. Brands you already reach for, chipping in to say thank you alongside us.
Hitting the Road This August
Here's the part we're most excited about. This August, we're loading up and driving across the country to visit independent grocers who've been quietly holding their communities together — some for decades, some more recently, all with the same commitment to the people who walk through their doors.
We picked five stores with stories worth telling: the kind of places where the person ringing up your groceries also coached your kid's little league team, or kept the shelves stocked through a flood, or just remembers how you like your turkey sliced. Starting this fall, you'll get to meet them through a documentary series that captures what makes independent grocery different — not because we're telling you it's different, but because you'll see it for yourself.
Why Independent Grocers Matter
You've probably noticed that not every IGA store looks the same. Some carry the IGA name on the sign out front. Others have run under a family name for generations — and that name means just as much. Both are part of the same story.
That's because IGA isn't a chain — it's an alliance. Since 1926, we've brought thousands of independently owned grocers together so they can access the tools, resources, and support that used to be available only to giant national chains. The name on the sign might be different from store to store, but what's underneath it is the same: real people, invested in their own neighborhoods, competing on their own terms.
When you choose to shop at an IGA store, your money doesn't disappear into a corporate ledger somewhere else. It stays close to home — in local jobs, local shelves, and local decisions. That's the kind of impact a national chain simply can't offer, because it isn't built to.
Your Turn
So enter the sweepstakes. Watch for the stories starting this August. And the next time you're checking out, take a second to notice: the person bagging your groceries isn't part of a script. They're part of your community. We've been in it for 100 years. The next 100 are already in motion — and we're glad you're along for the ride.
