100 Years of Hometown Proud: Will we visit YOUR store this August?

Mar 19, 2026

For a century, IGA has been more than just a grocery store — we’ve been a pillar of the community. As we celebrate our 100th Anniversary, we are officially launching the IGA: In It for the Long Haul 100th Anniversary Shopper Sweepstakes, a national celebration designed to reward the customers and communities we serve while telling the real story of the independent grocer.

To bring this celebration to life, we are hitting the road this August to visit five store locations that represent the heart and soul of our Alliance. If your store is selected, IGA will help support a community-focused Anniversary Parking Lot Event in August to thank your community. Our professional film crew will capture the celebration and your store's story to create a video. These videos will be shared directly with shoppers across the country through our national digital channels, defining for a new generation why independent grocers are the backbone of their hometowns.

A family built on independence

Whether your family joined the Alliance in 1926 or you opened your doors last week, you are a vital part of our broader IGA family. It doesn't matter if you have an IGA Red Oval logo on the outside of your store; this celebration is about the spirit of the independent grocer, because when we join forces and share our collective legacy, every independent retailer wins.

Why your store?

We aren't just looking for great sales numbers; we are looking for legacy. We want to film and share your store’s unique story with shoppers nationwide to help them understand what it truly means to support an independent grocer. When they shop with you, they aren't just buying groceries; they are supporting a local family, a local economy, and a century-long tradition of service.

In these featured videos, we want to highlight:

    • The Specialty: Is it your famous family-recipe sausage or your scratch-made bakery?
    • The Legacy: How has your store stayed "In It for the Long Haul" through the generations? How will you remain an integral part of the community for the next 100 years?
    • The Impact: How has your store shaped/impacted your town?

How to raise your hand:

Ready to represent the independent spirit for this 100-year milestone? Please fill out the consideration form below. We’ll need a few details on your parking lot space, your store's history, and what makes your location a "must-visit."
