I am excited to announce Dutch Farms is joining the IGA family as a Red Oval partner! Dutch Farms is my family’s company, dating back to the 1980s. We offer a full line of farm fresh dairy items that our founders could only dream of at the time. My father Bruce and my uncle Brian founded Dutch Farms. This dream was passed on to them from their father and has grown into the company we are proud of today. Their goal was to bring high quality dairy to homes like our own, at unsurpassed value.
Based in Chicago, we have long served independent grocers and see them as the heart of our business. Our future growth hinges on the success of our independent partners. This has always been the case and remains our most steadfast mission.
What began with six cheese items over 30 years ago has now grown to an expansive dairy case with over 300 branded Dutch Farms items. We thrive on promoting and collaborating with retailers to bring the best products at the best prices to the consumer. It will be our pleasure to bring this focus and commitment to our partners as a member of Red Oval.

How is Dutch Farms focusing on product innovations?
American consumers are snacking more than ever. In fact, over 90 percent of adults snack multiple times throughout the day, and the Snacks sub-category is outpacing all other cheese segments, comprising 11 percent of the overall cheese category (up three percent vs. YA).
Dutch Farms is perfectly positioned to meet the growing consumer demand for protein-packed, portable energy—anywhere, anytime. Dutch Farms launched “On-the-Go” branded cheese snacks in 2019 with a wide range of snacking products, including: On-the-Go Snackers, individual packs of natural cheese, dried fruit, and salted nuts; On-the-Go Snack Packs, individually wrapped cheese bars; On-the-Go String Cheese; and On-the-Go Protein Packs which feature string cheese, hard-cooked eggs, and salami.
Why is the independent sector important for your business?
The Dutch Farms Company is a Chicagoland-born business, family owned and operated in a unique grocery market. Since the 1980s, The Dutch Farms company has grown alongside our independent partners in the Midwest, who have taught us a lot. Independents like IGA are quite literally the foundation of our business, and not surprisingly, our core tenets are aligned: service, quality, value.
How do you plan to help IGA retailers increase their sales in the dairy category?
Dutch Farms' go-to-market strategy takes a four-point approach, all designed to drive traffic and profits to IGA retailers:
- Provide the consumer national brand quality with local brand focus
- Retail pricing beneath the national brands and slightly above the store brands translates to real value
- Cost structure that allows super-sized margins
- Proven marketing support by an in-house dedicated marketing team including social media investment, local cross-promotions, geo-targeted billboard campaigns, trade press and more
