Sales-Building Solutions in Action at the Rally's Innovation Showcase

One of my favorite parts of my job—a job that ac­tually has a lot of really good parts, incidentally—is visiting stores. I love learning about the communities we serve. I love meeting the people who work as stewards of this great brand. And most of all, I love seeing the innovative ideas our independent en­trepreneurs and store teams are using to increase sales. Those creative tactics in marketing, branding, and operations are the secret sauce of IGA, and the unique shopping experiences those ideas inspire are what keep shoppers coming back for more.

You’ve heard me talk before about the importance of “bottling” those ideas, making them available for every retailer in our Alliance. The best practices program we created has done a good job of that, and our library is growing all the time with new ideas. But what if there was a way to take best practices a step further? What if our entire Alliance could see best practices in sales building in action so they aren’t just reading about them, but actually experiencing them, just like our shoppers would?

That’s exactly the idea behind the 2020 IGA Global Rally. With a new, centrally located venue with easy access for a majority of IGA retailers, we thought this was the year to switch things up a bit and make the Rally an interactive learning experience. While program and industry insights from the big stage will certainly still be an important part of your Rally agenda, you’ll also have the opportunity to immerse yourself in an Innovation Showcase where you can experience sales-building tactics in key categories and departments, learn more about the Red Oval partner opportunities that will drive your business, and be inspired by the top retailer best practices of the year. It’s a more overt and pragmatic way to see what’s working in retail in general and in IGA stores around the world, and it’s designed with one key goal in mind: we want you to leave the Rally with a list of ideas that you can implement immediately to increase incremental sales in your store.
