After several years of elevated food-at-home costs, consumers are still feeling the pinch at the checkout and they're responding by cooking more meals at home and looking for ways to stretch their grocery dollars further.
That shift creates a real opportunity for independent grocers. The gap between dining out and dining in has widened significantly. According to the latest Bureau of Labor Statistics data, food-away-from-home prices continue to climb faster than food-at-home prices, making a backyard cookout one of the most affordable ways for families to gather this summer.

The sweepstakes aisle blade is available to download and print in the Q2 Quarterly Marketing Kit.

The sweepstakes kicked off May 20, 2026 with promotion on IGA.com, posts on the IGA USA Facebook page, and a feature in the National Digital Ad, which is geo-targeted to IGA communities. While that alone will pull in the impressions, IGA has created social media, web graphics, and a shopper blog so you can share sweepstakes details with your shoppers.
